“Business Proposal” Star Kim Min Kyu Confirmed to Star in New Fantasy Romance Drama “High Priest Rembrary”

After success in “Snowdrop” and “Business Proposal” dramas, actor Kim Min Kyu confirmed he will be starring in a new fantasy romance Korean drama entitled “High Priest Rembrary”. This announcement was confirmed by his agency on May 23^rd. High Priest Rembrary or in Korean is “Daeshinkan Rembrary” adapted from a web novel entitled “Holy Idol”. The popularity of “Holy Idol” makes it also turned into a Webtoon series. The drama will have a genre fantasy romance which follows the story of Rembrary as a high priest who possesses the body of Woo Yeon Woo, an unknown idol.

In the drama, Kim Min Kyu will take on the main role as Rembrary. He is a high priest from another world who came to this world to fight the demon king who has invaded another world. However, when he come to his senses, he woke up in the body of a handsome unknown idol named Woo Yeon Woo. He is expected to captivate the hearts of fans by presenting everything from comic acting, which is struggling to survive as an unknown idol, to explosive romance acting. 

Before receiving a lot of love in his previous drama “Business Proposal,” as chief secretary named Cha Sung Hoon, Kim Min Kyu succeeded in starring in the phenomenal Korean drama in 2021 entitled “Snowdrop”. He played Joo Gyeok Chan-a cold-hearted North Korean agent. Together with Jung Hae In as Lee Su Ho and Jisoo from Blackpink as Eun Reong Ro“Snowdrop” succeeds in gaining love from the fans.

Kim Min Kyu began his career in drama in 2003. He debuted in 2013 with his role as cameo in the tvN drama “Monstar.” He also had his big screen debut in the same year with the film “The Five”. He had notable roles in the television series “Signal” (2016), “Chasing” (2016), “Because This Is My First Life” (2017), “The Rich Son” (2018). His performance in “The Rich Son” earned him the Best New Actor nomination at the MBC Drama Awards.

He continued his career in “Perfume” (2019) and appeared in the variety program “Crime Scene season 3” as a detective's assistant. Kim Min Kyu gained recognition for his career's first leading role through the historical drama “Queen: Love and War” (2019-20) where he played Lee Kyung, the King of Joseon. In 2020, Kim Min Kyu played the role of Kang Ji Wook in the SBS drama “Backstreet Rookie”. In 2021, he appeared in “So I Married the Anti-fan” which premiered in April on Naver TV.

Even though the drama “High Priest Rembrary” is scheduled to air in the first half of 2023, all fans are already excited to watch Kim Min Kyu as Rembrary, the main star of the drama. Just to recall a memory of Kim Min Kyu when he played Cha Sung Hoon in “Business Proposal”, especially in 7 and 8 episodes when he was finally brave to confess his feelings to Ji Yeong Seo. In those episodes, Kim Min Kyu acted really well as Cha Sung Hoon, a smart and handsome secretary. He is like a prince in a fantasy story. I believe the character Rembrary will suit him.
