Review on Twenty-Five Twenty-One Ep3 & 4: Get Emotionally Up and Down!

Episode 3 & 4: Get Emotionally Up and Down

Annyeong everyone, meet with me again, Rinan 😊 We will have a review session on episodes 3 & 4 Twenty-Five Twenty-One. Let’s check it out!

The third and fourth episode of Twenty Five Twenty One drama will make the fans getting emotionally up and down. These two episodes are aired on February 29 and 20. These episode can be watched at TvN and Netflix. These episodes encourage the fans to feel the emotionally up and down as the scenes mostly portray high tense conflict and also show romantic and cute interaction between the two couples. It begins with the scene back to 1998 when Na Hee Do is given a chance to join the national team qualification for fencer athletes. Hee Do is so lucky as two athletes resigned due to lack of funding during the financial crisis in South Korea. Coach Yang quickly gives her a chance as Hee Do never gives up when the others do. But Yu Rim seemed irked about it. Yu Rim got more angry with Hee Do when Baek Yi Jin decided to give a new edition of Full House book to Hee Do instead of giving the book to her.

The real war really comes to a head when one of Sunbae (their senior) screams at Yu Rim and Hee Do to break her rule to not practice at night. Yu Rim immediately apologizes, but Hee Do does not. Hee Do feels she does not make any mistakes. The gym is free for anyone and all of them can use it at any time they want. As a punishment, the senior wants them to clean all around the gym.

 ---

After portraying a high tension conflict between Hee Do and Yu Rim, the drama brings the viewers into the cute interaction between Moon Ji Woong and Yu Rim. Moon Ji Woong pretends not to bring a book and accompanies Yu Rim in the punishment of her teacher. He falls in love with Yu Rim and it is clear that Yu Rim has the same feeling too, but they keep shy flirting with each other.

The cute couple interaction also shows the scene when Hee Do protects Yi Jin from a stranger. Hee Do thinks it is the same with two men who threatened Yi Jin the previous night. However, the fact is that the man is Yi Jin’s father who misses him so much and wants to see him before he leaves again. Yi Jin immediately realizes and runs to the bus terminal to stop and meet his father. Hee Do feels sorry about it. She cries and thinks she made Yi Jin miss meeting his father. She runs the streets for two hours and tries to help Yi Jin to find his father until her slipper breaks. This scene is so emotionally romantic, especially when Yi Jin realizes how Hee Do tries to help him.

---

Back to the hurtful scene, when Baek Yi Jin races to the bus terminal, trying to meet his father. He runs and screams at his father’s bus until the bus stops. They only get a few minutes to talk while the bus driver waits. Yi Jin promises his father to do everything he can to make his family unite again and keep surviving even though it is hard. Like most fathers, his father tries to comfort Yi Jin and reminds him to not forget to eat and keep surviving.

Hurtful moment also comes when Yi Jin's interview is not going well. He fails and make him to drink soju. (Soju is alcohol and Korean ancestors consume Soju usually to drive out bad spirits. However, for now, it is culturally inherited for adult Koreans to drink Soju, wine or alcohol.)

After feeling the hurtful scene from Yi Jin, the drama brings us to other funny scenes when Hee Do meets a gang who wants to take revenge on what Hee Do did in the past. Hee Do runs as fast as she can and meets Yi Jin driving a car. Instead of helping Hee Do, Yi Jin tells her to keep running until Hee Do spontaneously jumps to his car while the car runs. The romantic scene begins when the rain suddenly falls and they are driving under the rain. (So cute ^.^)

Another cute and romantic couple interaction in this episode portrays when Ji Woong and Yu Rim accidently meet on the bus. The same as Yi Jin and Hee Do, they also walk under the rain together.

The Hurtful, Inspiring, and Romantic scenes from the fourth episode

1.

This scene shows when Yi Jin is doing an interview and the interviewers ask about what things in this world that they believe will never change. The two participants answer with familial love and dreams. However, Yi Jin thinks two of them are changing during the financial crisis in South Korea. He lost his united family and his dream at the same time. Instead of answering the question as the two participants, Yi Jin answers it with logical things, that is gravity. He believes in this world only gravity that would never change.

2.

When Hee Do realizes she learns a lot of things from her private coaching with Coach Yang. First, she learns how to control herself when her senior forbids to practice at night. She successfully controls her emotions as it is the important thing when doing fencing. Second, she learns a rhythm that is also important in fencing.

In the final test, coach Yang sparring with Hee Do. Even though Hee Doo loses Coach Yang believes she learns enough to do well in a qualification for the fencer national team.

3.

Yi Jin stays at the gym to watch Hee Do practices. He brings banana milk for Hee Do and asks her so many questions about fencing. She tells Yi Jin eagerly that she wants to show the world that she can and make her dream come true. The scene gets sentimental when Yi Jin practices fencing with Hee Do. Hee Do asks Yi Jin why he supports her so much when others do not. He talks and answers her softly that Hee Do gives him hope, which makes him want to be a success and has a spirit like her. In the dim light, Yi Jin says that he wants to see Hee Do succeed even more. They look at each other like the other is their only lifeline.

Quotes of the day:

The only thing I believe that will be constant
in this world is gravity.
I don’t believe in anything to stay the same forever.
Because believing in something like that
sets expectations for how things should turn out.
However, gravity is constant regardless of any expectations.
That’s why I can believe only in gravity.
-Baek Yi Jin-

I heard that every tragedy in life is a comedy if you see it from afar.
That means we have to live as if we’re seeing ourselves from afar.
-Na Hee Do-

Getting curious about what happens to Yi Jin and Hee Do in the next episode? So, keep stay tuned!

I will be back next week for a review on the fifth and sixth episode!

Thank you for visiting!
