After the newest episodes of Twenty-Five Twenty-One, those are episodes 14 and 15 are aired, there are a lot of speculation from netizens that this drama will end up with a sad ending. Recently, it provokes netizens to attack and beg on TvN official Instagram. Netizen hope for a happy ending because they are not ready as all characters have experienced a hard and difficult life throughout the drama, so all characters deserve a happy ending. These two episodes can be watched on TvN and Netflix and are aired on 27 and 28 March 2022. After the two episodes are released, the hashtag #TwentyFiveTwentyOne becomes a hot trending topic on Twitter and TikTok. All citizens hope that the drama will end with happiness ever after.

So, why do the netizens respond like that? What are the trigger factors and the signs which show the drama will end with a sad ending based on the 14 and 15 episodes? So, basically, episodes 14 and 15 follow the story of five characters’ despair, direction and difficulties. The trust issues, dilemma and hard decision have been registered throughout the two episodes. These are three signs the drama will end with a sad ending based on episodes 14 and 15 which provoke netizens attack TvN official Instagram:

1.      Ko Yu Rim changes her nationality and joins Russia’s national team

Episode 13 of Twenty-Five Twenty-One brings netizens to witness Ko Yu Rim’s suffering, which seems like there is no end. Yu Rim’s father accidently hit another vehicle with his truck and severely injured the other driver. Her poor family has to give money for a settlement to the victim. However, we all know that Yu Rim’s family has difficult financial problems and is getting worse when the financial crisis hit South Korea in 1998. With no money for a settlement, there is a good chance her father could be sent to prison.

Yu Rim has to watch her father and mother in a difficult situation every day makes her choose a controversial decision which sounds crazy to some people. Yu Rim changes her nationality and accepts an offer to join Russia’s national team which covers her living cost on top of a better salary because the salary Yu Rim’s set to receive from the Korean national fencing team won’t enough. As a consequence, it means she renouncing her Korean nationality and that makes her a traitor in the eyes of the public, especially since it is obvious, she did it for money. Hate speech, discrimination and resentment against Ko Yu Rim as the response to her controversial decision.

In the fourteenth episode, Yu Rim moves to Russia, which means she has to leave Korea and her boyfriend, Moon Ji Woong. All Yu Rim’s hardships make netizens and the fans really hope for her happy ending with Moon Ji Woong, but this scene is signed that there is no happy ending for them.

 

2.      The greatest fear of Baek Yi Jin comes true

As a reporter, Baek Yi Jin has to work as a professional and not be impartiality. It seems so hard for Yi Jin to follow his job ethical issue, especially when Ko Yu Rim first decided to change her nationality. The first reporter who knows this is Yi Jin. Yi Jin is the first reporter and her close friend to learn of her decision. He is also the first one to break the news on air and set off a storm of outrage against Yu Rim. His action kills him, but he cannot justify showing partiality by not doing it. To act like a professional or to keep his friendship makes Yi Jin insanely dilemma. Even though Yu Rim seems resigned, Hee Do is appalled by Yi Jin’s action. The scene is signed that the drama will end up with a sad ending because Yi Jin’s friendship with Yu Rim is over now and Hee Do is disappointed with him. He does not know he is going to lose some of his closest friends because of his job. He has stopped hanging out with Hee Do and her friends. He cannot wave a final goodbye to Yu Rim. He is in pain, and his fear of hurting Hee Do has only increased because of this incident.

He digs more into it and finds out the entire truth. As a reporter, he has to report this exclusive news to the viewers. However, before doing so, he visits Yu Rim to ask about her well-being. Yu Rim has already got the idea of what is going to happen next. On TV, Yi Jin presents exclusive news about Yu Rim changing her nationality for money. This creates controversy around Yu Rim, and a hateful wave spreads in Korea against her. Based on the scene, it seems there is no sign of a happy ending for the characters.

 

3.      Baek Yi Jin congratulating Hee Do for marriage

In the very last scene of the fourteenth episode showing something that is shocking to all netizens and the fans of the drama. The scene shows in 2009 when Baek Yi Jin interviewed Na Hee Do after she won a gold medal. Yi-jin and champion fencer Hee-do, in which they tearily but subtly wish each other well, clearly not having spoken for some time and Yi-jin congratulates her on her recent marriage. This scene is the most hot trending scene that creates and provokes a lot of speculation and opinions from the public predicted the drama would end with a sad ending. The fans of Twenty-Five Twenty-One have a happy ending for this couple. Thousands comments about it have been registered on TvN official Instagram.
